Iron Chef Super Bowl Throw Down

We watched the Super Bowl at our friends Chris and Lindsey's house and had an Iron Chef competition for the best Super Bowl fare. Shannon and I were very confident with our entries, fish tacos and ice cream sandwiches with homemade oatmeal cookies and coffee heath bar crunch, and true, we did take two of the top three entries on the night, but the gold medal eluded us for the second time in a row. Who won? Jocelyn, who can be seen below preparing her winning dumpling entry. Will we always be second place, you ask? Hardly. We're already considering entries for next time.

Doug and Elizabeth Come to Town

Last weekend, Shannon's Dad and Elizabeth came to town to see Maegen and Jay's new house and celebrate Doug's birthday. A fine time was had by all. Especially noteworthy were the succulent pasta dinner we made on Saturday night and the delicious Bloody Maries Jay made on Sunday morning. Oh, and let's not forget the cake with milk shots.

Technology is lovely

I'm sitting here in my bed with my laptop where it belongs, that is, in my lap, and nursing the day's first cup of coffee and generally feeling optimistic about the day ahead and what better way to spread my good cheer than by updating the blog without even having to move an inch? Not sure who to root for in the Super Bowl later today? Neither am I. The New Englander in me wants the Patriots to finish their perfect season, but the Red Sox fan in me can't quite cut the thread in my mind that connects the Pats to another team of dynastic proprotions...the New York Yankees, whom I loathe. This part of me would like to see an upset today. Perhaps, in the end, I'd rather be watching baseball.
