Here we go Go-Go's, here we go!

Felix attended his first kick ball game last night at Oak Ledge Park, supporting his Dad's own Toki Yo Go-Go's Vs. Team Tupac Riding A Unicorn, formerly known as Sweet Tang. Other Go-Go babies were also in attendance, including one-month-old Cashel Higgins, also sporting his Go-Go's onesie, and one-year-old Josephine, who can be seen below intently studying the line-up between innings. With all this baby power to support us, our team was successful, routing Team Tupac 7-1, a sweet victory since we lost to them in the finals last year. Vindicated!

Adios, Umbilicus

Like one of the Spartan warriors at Thermopylae, Felix tore off the last vestige of his time in the womb, the knotty stub of his umbilical cord, laughing as he did so and shouting "I'm a free man!" Alright, alright, so it dried up like a raisin and fell out on its own and I'm not even sure that Felix noticed, but it was still pretty cool. Yes, what you see below is an umbilical cord, or at least what's left of it. I assure you the just born version was much more exciting.

Visit from Nana and Tigger

My Mom and Douglas, who will someday be affectionately known by their grandson as Nana and Tigger, respectively, came for a visit this weekend and were smitten with their new grandson. A walk to the park in the stroller, Felix's first, and much chinese food ensued. My mom has pledged always to be the grandma with a fully stocked candy drawer. Felix is psyched.

Play Date

Felix indulged in his first of many play dates with his new friend, Hayden McConville, who was born on May 22nd. Though only a few weeks younger than Hayden, Felix was jealous that the older boy keeps his eyes open most of the time and has such amazing control of his neck. When he queried me on the subject, I told him that he too would soon have these much sought after abilities. All in good time, Son. Peter and Laura, Hayden's parents, and Shannon and I traded baby stories and had a nice time catching up. And yes, we already seem to be those people who can't stop talking about their kid. Sorry.

Felix says Go-Go!

I'm missing my first kick ball game of the season tonight (my team, the Toki-Yo Go Go's face the Mundy Bunch), but in honor of the spirt of kick ball and my dedication to the team, Felix opted to wear his Go Go's purple today. Go team!

Rite of Passage

Felix experienced an important rite of passage this morning, his fourth morning as an oxygen breathing member of the human race, that is, the sink sponge bath. He wasn't too excited by the process, despite our reassurances that his hair would be super clean and stylish once we were finished, but we managed to get through it. More soon...

Felix!!

Shannon gave birth to our beautiful (and hairy!) son Felix Delehanty Roesch on Saturday, June 14th at 7:04 pm. Felix weighed 8lbs 2oz and was 21 inches long and is 100% adorable. Here's the first of a million future postings related to all things Felix, replete with some pictures from the hospital and the first day home. Thanks to everyone, friends and family and colleagues alike, for all the love and support in the form of phone calls, emails, text messages, hospital visits, food, cards, flowers, and everything I'm too tired to remember. We're beaming around here and so proud to be new parents!
