Happy Hour

When I got home from work Friday, Felix and I enjoyed some playtime on the porch, which is our favorite afternoon pastime. It's a combination of Dance Party, People Watching, Airplane, Googly Eyes, Noise Making, Laughing, Drooling, and all around Father-Son Splendor.

Fall Clothing

The combination of cooler temperatures and September sunshine inspired the following outfit choice, a winner with or without a hat.

Well, Hello Mr. Thumb

Felix recently discovered that not only are his hands wonderful to suck on, but that each hand is equipped with a fat, juicy thumb that's a perfect fit for his mouth. Eureka! The discoveries are daily here at Chez Roesch.

Maybe if I pretend I'm a baby, they'll notice me more!

It's not easy being #2.

Are you two related?

Walk around Burlington long enough in the company of a (former) Delehanty sister and you're bound to experience some variation of the following exchange:
"Shannon?"
"No, I'm Maegen, Shannon's my sister."

OR

"Maegen?"
"No, I'm Shannon, Maegen's my sister."

Now, the sisters often begrudge these instances with claims of "we don't look THAT much alike!" But I now bring forth irrefutable photographic proof. Behold.

Fall is upon us...

With the cooler weather, comes warmer clothing. Today, Felix had his first public appearance in a sweater and hat.
I know you will be surprised, but SERIOUSLY he looked so cute! He was so cozy in his warm attire that he fell asleep on our walk with Uncle Sean, Omar, and Stella.

major meltdown

today felix and i headed downtown to run some errands and hopefully meet up with aunty meg for lunch. so felix ate before we left, but started to fuss as we got to rite-aid to drop off a prescription. i gave him his pacifier and he sucked for a short while before ejecting it from his mouth. as we walked to the bank, the fuss got a little more intense, but not quite a cry. by the time we got to the bank, the cry was in full force and the melt down began. i thought, oh i can handle this, i brought the carrier with me today. grabbed the screaming baby, put him in the carrier and proceeded to walk around a bit to settle him down. settle down wasn't really what felix had in mind...the cry became louder and more intense...quivering lips, crocodile tears, the whole works. major meltdown!!! how could he be hungry, i just fed him, thought the new mom with the screaming baby! so we walked to city hall park to find a bench to hang out on. the poor guy, finally started to calm down after i took him out of the carrier, took his pants off because now we were both sweating, and began to feed him. after eating, he fell fast asleep and i could have done the same, but we were still down town. Yup...i did say we were going to meet aunty meg for lunch but jury duty called! felix slept while i ate lunch, got coffee, picked up the prescription, and walked all the way home...in fact, he is still sleeping phew!

A Boy Greets the Morning With a Smile

As of late, Felix has begun the highly desirable trend of smiling and laughing through the morning. And look, he sits up! (sort of) Pajamas brought to you by John Lennon (seriously, there's kids wear with a John Lennon logo bearing drawings by the late Beatle, a la Jerry Garcia ties)

Top Chef 4

This report comes to you in sadness, as it was our final Top Chef night with our dear friends Chris and Lindsay who depart the mountainous green expanse of Vermont for the sunny pale beaches of Tampa, Florida this week. Alas, they're moving. We do wish them well and many returns to visit their northern friends. Our Top Chef, which we did not win (congrats go to Jocelyn, Code Name Jo-D, on her unanimous triumph). There were six courses; I leave it to you, our readers, to discern the night's theme, as it seems a bit unseemly to name it here. The pictures may help.

1. Sloppy Joe's with Tater Tots
2. Macaroni Beef Bacon Surprise
3. Chicken Fried Steak
4. Gumbo
5. Corn Dogs, Onion Rings, and Hawaiian Punch
6. Jell-O Mold with Sour cream, walnuts, and strawberries.

7. One Belly Ache

And They Said it Couldn't be Done

I proudly bequeath to the world the results of the 1st Birthing Class Reunion Baby photo. From left to right: Samuel, Aoife, Gavin, Oliver, Jack, Felix, and Anya. (Not pictured: Nina and Paul, Jessamy and Bobby, Justin and Cynthia, Jill and John, Sarah and Luke, Benjamin and Shannon, and Natalie and Dan). Lots of good company. Lots of breastfeeding. And yes, sympathetic crying is real.
